HISTORY
Pategrás is one of the most representative cheeses of Argentine tradition, inspired by Central European varieties such as Emmental. Its name comes from the local adaptation of the French term “Pâte Gras” (fat paste), referring to its rich and creamy texture.
Over time, it has become a classic on Argentine tables and cheese platters, standing out for its balance between smoothness and character.
APPEARANCE
It is distinguished by its ivory color and large, evenly distributed eyes throughout the paste. The surface is smooth and shiny, and its elastic texture makes it visually appealing and pleasant to slice. Its flavor is delicate and milky, with a slightly buttery note that deepens gently as it matures.
USE
Pategrás is ideal for cheese and cold-cut boards, adding a versatile and balanced touch. It can be enjoyed alone in slices or cubes, in sandwiches, or used in baked dishes such as gratins and pies. Its harmonious flavor makes it suitable for both everyday meals and special occasions.
