HISTORY

Port Salut originated in France, in the Abbey of Port-du-Salut, where Trappist monks crafted it during the 19th century. The recipe was later adopted in Argentina, where it was adapted to local dairy production, becoming a daily-consumption cheese. Over time, it earned a place among the most appreciated table cheeses for its softness and accessibility, symbolizing the balance between tradition and everyday enjoyment.

APPEARANCE

This is a soft cheese with a smooth, compact paste, ranging in color from white to light ivory. Its creamy and pliable texture allows for easy slicing and versatile use in various dishes. The flavor is mild and light, ideal for those who prefer delicate, non-intrusive cheeses, complemented by a fresh, milky aroma.

USE

Port Salut is a versatile, everyday cheese, perfect for the dining table. It can be enjoyed on its own, in slices or cubes, and works beautifully in salads thanks to its gentle flavor and compatibility with fresh vegetables. It is also excellent in sandwiches, mild gratins, or as part of a balanced cheese board.
